He claimed that the Albatross would be able to keep Dagasi safe through the winter storm if they stopped worshiping Sehanine and accepted their rightful ruler.Īt first, the people were reluctant to follow Alcor, but as conditions worsened, they were drawn to his message. Alcor received direct guidance from the Albatross, and made it known to Dagasi. Clerics would receive spells, and occasionally priests would receive omens, but there was never more than that. Sehanine was almost always uninvolved with the aarakocra. Holy symbols and arcane focuses were often elaborate, lavish crafts.Īround 600 PR, in a particularly brutal winter, an upstart priest named Alcor claimed to have received a sign from The Albatross that the aarakocra were worshiping the wrong deity, and that it was only "proper" for them to worship an avian god. Due to the abundance of gemstones and precious metals and lack of nearby settlements, the aarakocra made ceremonial use of the minerals rather than trade them. They often offered shelter to miners in exchange for a share of the ore. Life revolved around the temple, which worshiped Sehanine, an aspect of Selune.įor many years, the aarakocra lived as hunters and scavengers in the frigid cold. The aarakocra of Dagasi put great emphasis on religion and culture. A lot of dwarvish stonework can still be found in the village. Originally a temporary mining town established by dwarves, wandering aarakocra took over the ghost town after the mining boom faded. The Flock of the Ascendant leaves their dead (and unborn) exposed on altars and places of religious significance, often with entrails leaking onto carvings in the stone. ![]() ![]() The aarakocra of Dagasi used to practice sky burial the dead were left in remote crags of the mountain for scavenging animals to eat. There's an unusually high concentration of religious buildings, shrines, and altars. The majority of the buildings are made of stone or metal.
